Trauma-informed Yoga programming for Children + Youth:

Our trauma-informed yoga program is designed specifically for children and youth, providing a welcoming and nurturing space where they can explore movement, breath, and mindfulness. By integrating playfulness, self-regulation, and body awareness, our classes empower young individuals to connect with themselves and cultivate resilience.

Key Components:

Playfulness: Our sessions are filled with creative and fun activities that encourage children to express themselves freely. Through imaginative yoga poses and playful sequences, we foster an environment of joy and exploration.

Self-Regulation: We teach breathing techniques and mindfulness practices that help children and youth manage their emotions and responses to stress. These tools are invaluable for promoting calmness, focus, and a sense of control.

Body Awareness: Our program emphasizes the importance of tuning into one's body. Through gentle yoga poses and movement, participants learn to recognize physical sensations and develop a deeper understanding of their bodies.

Our trauma-informed approach aims to ensures that every child feels respected, supported, and safe. We believe that through yoga, children and youth can embark on a healing journey, build confidence, and discover their inner strength.

Join us in creating a brighter future for our young ones, where they can thrive, heal, and grow through the transformative power of yoga.

Children

Ages 5-7 - Yoga provides a great opportunity for children to learn to feel comfortable in their bodies. Yoga also helps children to integrate movement with the breath to help with physical balance, focus of their minds and calming of their nervous systems. Our noncompetitive classes and workshops celebrate the unique, naturally playful spirit within each 5, 6 and 7-year old child. Together, we will explore creative movement, enjoy a variety of basic yoga postures / breathing exercises, visual imagery, games and more, while conveying lessons of positive body image, positive thinking, social skills, self expression and environmental awareness.

Ages 8-10 - Tapping into the growing independence of 8, 9 and 10-year olds, our classes encourage a deeper sense of body awareness, interpersonal skills and self-exploration. Motivated by flowing sequences, balancing poses, creative relaxation techniques and breathing exercises, students are sure to delight in themselves. Additionally, cooperative yoga games and partner poses inspire positive peer interactions that they are sure to carry into their every day lives.

Youth

Ages 11-13 & 14-18 - Pre-teens experience a great deal of issues as they approach adolescence. Yoga can assist in the building of self-esteem and provides a respite for young people to reduce stress and find a healthy balance. Various studies have indicated that yoga practice can help improve a student's behavior and physical health. The basic yoga principals used as the foundation of our classes for 11 -13-year olds and 14-18 year olds help teach students to love, honor and respect themselves and others. We will focus on creating an environment which facilitates learning, relaxation and fun via yoga poses, breathing techniques, games, affirmations, self-reflection, journaling and visualization.
