Grief and Praise: Tending to the Void, a Father's Day Community Offering

Join trauma-informed yoga and sound healing practionter Marlene Boyette for the return of this series, as she welcomes doula, yoga instructor and sound healer, Jessica Paulino to co-facilitate this community offering.

"We are excited to share the medicine of processing grief in relation to paternal figures. Whether you are grieving the loss of a father, the absence of a paternal relationship, the complexities and harms associated with fatherhood or your fatherhood journey, this event offers a compassionate environment to navigate these emotions, in community."

Within this workshop, space will be held to:

• Honor what and whom is being grieved

• Experience nature, stillness, quietness and conversation as means for reflection, honoring, and understanding

• Be immersed in sound healing (via the sounds of nature, singing bowls, chimes, and other instruments) as an approach to addressing energetic blockages, and softening the mind, physical body, and heart center through a vibrational experience

Participants are welcomed to bring:

• Images and/or items to create a community altar honoring what/whom is being grieved (you will be able to take your altar items home with you)

• A journal and writing utensils for personal reflections

• A blanket or yoga mat and any props for your own comfort

Event Schedule:

  1. Welcome + Community Altar Creation: Set up a shared space for honoring loved ones.

  2. Cleanse + Chat: Engage in a cleansing ritual followed by a discussion to open the heart and mind.

  3. Sound Healing: Experience deep relaxation and emotional release through sound.

  4. Journaling: Create notes reflecting on your paternal relationship, whether it be present, absent, or complicated.

  5. Fire Ceremony: Participate in a fire ceremony to symbolically release and transform your grief.

  6. Closing: Conclude the evening with shared reflections, closing circle and sharing of refreshments

  7. NOTE: In the spirit of reciprocity we ask that each person who is financially able bring one food / snack item to share in community (ex: fruit, veggies, crackers, chips, or dessert).
