SATURDAY JUNE 22, 2PM - 5PM | PROCESSIONAL for ANCESTORS MARK, PHILLIS & PHEBE | RESURRECTION, art installation by Ife Franklin

Over the last several months, I have had the immense honor of being called to collaborate with the multitalented artists, @ife_franklin_slave_narrative as part of a ritual that will honor ancestors Mark, Phillis and Phebe. I was able to view much of the process of Ife visioning and birthing this beautiful structure, RESURRECTION, and this bonding has prepared me to hold soft space one week from this coming Saturday.

Join us on June 22nd for a powerful processional honoring the lives and memories of our enslaved ancestors, led by featured Lot Lab artist Ifé Franklin. Ifé will guide us through a meaningful journey around Lot Lab, paying tribute to Mark, Phillis, and Phebe—three Black individuals enslaved in Charlestown who sacrificed their lives in the fight for freedom.

Her sculptural work, The Resurrection of Mark, Phillis, and Phebe, serves as a sacred space for reflection and spiritual rebirth, honoring those who endured unimaginable hardships.

Following the procession, Marlene Boyette, a dedicated community member, and wellness advocate and sound healer, will lead a meditation practice and sound bath.

This is a moment to come together, enjoy light refreshments, and uplift the spirits of Mark, Phillis, Phebe, and countless others who paved the way.

Please remember: This is not a performance but a sacred ritual to honor our ancestors. While all are welcome, this event is intended as a healing space for Black Americans and descendants of enslaved Africans. People of color will lead the ceremony, with white allies respectfully following behind in the procession. We encourage all participants to wear white.
